My Personal Experience of Playing Video Games

Playing video games has become one of my favorite pastimes throughout the years of my life. But since 2010, I have not yet been able to play these games due to some unexpected circumstances that disappointed me. Now, with the growing presence of smartphones and tablets available in local markets, I feel that I am starting to play video games once again. The thrill of playing them reminded me of my own experience when I was young. So, for my first article, I will share to you my personal story of my own video gaming experience.

It all started in the mid 90s when we first moved in. The first video game console that my mother bought back then in a nearby supermarket was the Sega Genesis. But, the only game that I enjoyed playing on the console was Nigel Mansell's World Championship Racing. Soon, I envied my neighbors playing games on their NES and Super Nintendo on their homes. I took the liberty of playing games on a Super Nintendo console in one of my old neighbors' houses. It was then that I had my first gaming love, namely Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble.

When my father bought a Sony PlayStation back in 1999, it was a completely different experience for me. It was then that the PS1 has become my favorite video game system during those days, while I have time playing games on my PC. Since then until high school, I have played many PlayStation 1 games at home and outside, where most of the ones I played became my favorite games. My reflection on gaming changed when I installed a Nintendo 64 emulator on my PC in 2002. The games that I first tested on that emulator work despite my PC's low specs. From then on, I have found something that I can truly enjoy - retro gaming.

It felt like I owned some of the greatest video game systems of all time that define history as I played some of the my favorite video games that I couldn't dream of playing them. That was the last time I enjoyed playing video games. Now, a new chapter in the story of my gaming life would begin. I will share to you the next time I am playing games when I choose to buy something that is capable of playing games like a smartphone.
