I watched a documentary on ABS-CBN's cable sports channel Balls named Four Days in October. It was all about the Boston Red Sox and the end of the so-called "Curse of the Bambino". I was quite amazed how the Red Sox regained themselves after losing three games against the New York Yankees in the 2004 American League Championship Series, and eventually won the series that became a ticket to the World Series that took them four games to win the series and end the curse that have been plaguing the baseball team since the 1919-1920 season. While watching the documentary, I began to think of an almost similar story but not in baseball, but in basketball. Not in professional baseball, but in college basketball, Not in the US, but in the Philippines.

And that would be the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers, the fourth team in the history of the league to win a Grand Slam after conquering all of the season's conferences. Now on the 40th season of Asia's oldest professional basketball league which will begin on October 19, all eyes are on Tim Cone and his brand of Mixers. Will they be able to create a new chapter in the history of the team and of the league as well? Well, we'll have to find out once it begins.

Philippine Basketball Rises Again and Shocked the World

Basketball is considered as the most popular and well-loved sport in the Philippines since it was first introduced during the American colonial period. Millions of Filipinos love basketball more than any other sport in the world. Wherever you go, there is always a basketball game in every corner of the country, where ordinary Filipinos, young and old alike, enjoy playing the sport from indoor and outdoor courts to the low-lying streets of the Metro. Many of them would also prefer watch great basketball action from the best ballers here and abroad. If you are one of those, then you must be either a great fan of the NBA or focusing on the present and future of Philippine basketball through the UAAP, NCAA, and PBA. Now, Philippine basketball has taken further into the next level as it surprisingly made its glorious return to the world basketball stage after four decades of waiting.

The Outcome of Super Sunday

Last Sunday, I've watched three different sporting events on three different free TV channels. They are the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup Battle for 3rd match between France and Lithuania on ABS-CBN, Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 on TV5, and the 2014 UAAP Cheerdance Competition on ABS-CBN Sports+Action. For me, it was known as "Super Sunday" because of what I have seen and watched on that day. Also on that day, I have seen that other free TV channels like GMA and its sister channel GMA News TV does not air any sporting event which could counter them except for the ladder's boring All Sports hour. Before I head to my conclusion, I will give you a quick outcome of the three sporting events that I have watched.
