Pangilinan surprisingly announced that all subscribers of Smart, Sun Cellular, and Talk n'Text will provide access to the World Wide Web on their Internet-capable mobile phones, more particularly smartphones, for absolutely free. A few days after the said announcement, Globe announced on its Facebook page the return of its highly successful Free Facebook promo, which rolled out last October 5, 2014. It seems that free mobile internet is now becoming a trend in our digital lifestyle since Globe launched the Google Free Zone two years ago. Is it just me, or will this trend continue to invade our shores? Well, regardless of what is happening within these two telecom brands, this will surely benefit many Filipinos owning a smartphone who want to know what is happening around the World Wide Web.

There is no doubt that Smart Communications Inc. and Globe Telecom are the most recognizable brands in the Philippine telecommunications industry. Through the years, these two telecom giants have been providing customers with their own portfolio of products and services suitable to their digital lifestyle. But we also know that these two have been battling in the said industry. Smart has the most number of prepaid subscribers and cell sites scattered all over the country, but Globe has the upper hand regarding postpaid. Aside from groundbreaking postpaid deals, Globe has acquired many postpaid subscribers than those of Smart. Now, these two telecom brands continue to beef up their postpaid services.
