A Bandwagon of Filipino-Dubbed Blockbuster Movies

When TV5 rebranded itself in 2010 as the Kapatid network, it introduced a new growing trend in Philippine television - airing big blockbuster movies but dubbed in Filipino. This would seem to be the case, as it efforts to provide understanding to many Filipino households while watching dubbed movies paid off as Viva Communications Inc. launched its newest pay TV channel, TMC or Tagalized Movie Channel.


Now, Tagalized Movie Channel is a 24-hour pay TV movie channel that offers the best of Hollywood and Asia. The big difference, however, is the fact that all movies aired on the channel are simply dubbed in Filipino. To many Filipinos who are into pay TV service, it is a welcome development for them to be able to watch their favorite foreign movies without any hassle whatsoever.

TV5 and TMC are considered to be the best TV channels when it comes to Filipino-dubbed blockbusters. But the trend has created a plethora of blockbuster movies through Philippine free TV movie blocks such as Kapuso Movie Festival and GMA Blockbusters of GMA 7 and Sine Sabado and Sunday Screening of GMA News TV. For me, it is also a welcome development, but not as interesting as the Movie Max 5 block of TV5 and the movies aired on TMC.

I can say that GMA 7 is the worst channel when it comes to Filipino-dubbed blockbuster movies not because of its engaging movie offerings, but of its bad dubbing. The network's way of dubbing the movies is by far the worst thing that I ever heard since I began to enjoy Philippine free TV in 2010.

Filipino-dubbed blockbuster movies are very essential for the networks to reach a growing audience of viewers. But there is one problem that I would admit to you now, so I can end this article. I hate watching foreign movies from the United States dubbed in Filipino. Who cares if the poor people of the Philippines do not understand what the English-speaking cast are saying? I want the movies the way I want them to be - uncut and seriously undubbed. And that is a fact!!
