Globe Completes Milestone Year for NBA Philippines

NBA, the oldest and most popular professional basketball league in the world, has a new partner in the Philippines today. And its name is Globe Telecom. The new multiyear deal between the two factions will bring the NBA closer to more than 45 million Globe subscribers nationwide. And this would complete a milestone year for the league in the Philippines as well.


NBA and Globe will create NBA-related promotions and develop unique and exciting offers for the ladder's subscribers. This would include the introduction of NBA League Pass passes to be available exclusively for Globe customers. Furthermore, all NBA-related videos such as highlights and top plays will be available on Globe's new mobile video streaming service Pisomall (m.pisomall.com.ph). This new revolutionary online platform, which is only for Globe Prepaid and TM subscribers, offers streaming of videos for only P1.00 a minute.

But even before the deal was made, 2014 has already become a milestone year for both Globe and NBA.

Globe made a name for itself as a pioneer in providing free mobile internet to its subscribers nationwide. It has collaborated with many popular brands such as Google, Facebook and Spotify to make this possible. On April 2014, coinciding with the launch of Spotify in the Philippines, Globe launched its newest consumable mobile internet offering GoSURF which provide customers with free music streaming through Spotify while controlling your daily internet activities on their mobile devices. Furthermore, Globe held the distinction of being the first mobile telecommunications company in the country to have achieved 100 percent 3G and 4G HSPA+ coverage for its entire nationwide network.

NBA has made 2014 a landmark year in the Philippines. The league saw many developments such as the opening of the first NBA Cafe in the world, the introduction of the first Junior WNBA program in the country, the opening of the first NBA store in the Philippines, and its multiyear partnership extension with local broadcasters ABS-CBN and Solar Entertainment Corporation that provides more basketball action to millions of Philippine TV viewers.
