Crazy Taxi, one of Sega's popular arcade games, and Namco's sword-based fighting game Soulcalibur were some of the best games released for the Sega Dreamcast when the console was first made availabe in 1999. In fact, they are still considered as two of the finest franchises in video game history. Today, we will reminisce playing these games, as Crazy Taxi and Soulcalibur are now available for today's generation of mobile devices, more particularly on Android smartphones and tablets. This is one way for gamers having their own smartphone to relive the joy of playing them.

I got the opportunity to play Crazy Taxi on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The gameplay is still as amazing as the original Dreamcast version. The control style of the Android version feels smoother than any other casual racing games. It feels like I played a modified and full 3D version of Crazy Taxi: Take a Ride for the Game Boy Advance. As you all know, Crazy Taxi has become one of my favorite video games since the GBA version. And I think this version did not disappoint many casual gamers who want to take a chance at trying it on. Just let this gameplay video prove my point.

I was surprised when I saw Soulcalibur on an Android-powered Acer smartphone. And when I tried it on, I was welcomed to the Dreamcast-style menu. The big difference is that you only use the smartphone's touch screen. The gameplay and sound have been well complemented for Android smartphones. Just like Crazy Taxi, the control style feels smooth. You even have to setup your touch-sensitive controller anywhere. The Android version of this sword-based fighting game is slated to be one of the best premium games available for any mobile device with the right specifications powerful enough to play this game.
These are just some of the games that have been given life once again on mobile devices. It reminded me when I played the original Sonic the Hedgehog on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It seems that retro gaming is now becoming a popular trend for mobile devices. And I just wish that more classic games will be re-released for future generations to come.
