It is such a darn shame for many Nokia fans who have been supporting the brand through the years, but we do not have any other choice because times are changing, even in the digital age. Ever since the release of Apple's iPhone followed by a growing plethora of Android smartphones, Nokia has been struggling its way back to the top of the mobile phone industry, but this has led the brand to some certain ups and downs when it comes to mobile phone sales.
But Nokia has made some good moments for itself so far, even before being transferred to Microsoft. It is an evident fact that Nokia is the first mobile phone brand in the world to release its own line of smartphones running on Windows Phone OS. The Lumia line has made the mobile version of Microsoft Windows operating system the third most-popular mobile OS in the world, where it is dominated by Android and Apple's iOS. At the same month where Nokia moved to Microsoft, it has unveiled its own series of smartphones that are capable of running Android applications and games, known as the Nokia X family. But sadly after the release of the Nokia X2, they have decided to discontinue the unveiling of more Nokia X phones and focus more on its Lumia line. That is a big disappointment for first-time Android smartphone users.
With more Windows Phone-powered smartphones to be released under the Microsoft Lumia line and the upcoming release of its Windows 10 OS, we will remember that there is once a mobile phone brand that dominated the global telecom industry since the late 90s and we will keep its legacy for more generations to come.
Speaking of Windows 10 OS, I asked myself, "Why Microsoft is going to release Windows 10 instead of Windows 9?" That question may have been an understatement for me. But if you want to know, it is for Microsoft to know and for you to find out eventually. By the way, Windows 10 promises to be a unified OS because it will be released not only for personal and portable computers, but also for smartphones and tablets. Now that is something that we want to try out.
