Getting Hooked to the Happy Network

Wattpad Presents on TV5

I was surprised to see that more and more Filipino viewers are beginning to get hooked up to the highly engaging and innovative programs on TV5, the fastest-growing broadcasting network in the Philippines. And it did not disappoint me since I have been supporting the network since Philippine business tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan started to take over the station back in 2010. The happy network has indeed redefined Philippine television with its own brand of programming.

According to Nielsen Media Research, many Filipino male viewers continue to watch the network's male-skewed entertainment programs and sports offerings such as PBA, NCAA, PXC, and The Amazing Race Philippines. Meanwhile, more Filipino teenagers are starting to enjoy the network since it began airing the hit primetime mini-series Wattpad Presents. It seems that the combined viewership of male and youth have propelled the success of the network further among millions of Filipino viewers.

TV5 has also been successfully active in social media. I have never seen millions of impressions on some of the network's currently aired shows like Wattpad Presents and The Amazing Race Philippines. Furthermore, its international reach also paid off as it became the third most-watched Filipino channel in the Middle East and South Africa according to its provider OSN. Its unprecedented success has reaped many recognitions in some of its programs both locally and internationally through the years, more particularly in the KBP Golden Dove Awards, Catholic Mass Media Awards, Golden Screen Entertainment Awards, PMPC Star Awards for Television, and Asian Television Awards, among others.

2014 is indeed a big year for TV5, despite some few uncertain cons like unexpected delays and scheduling of NCAA games. It is a good think that the network stays true to its commitment to make Filipino viewers happy with its brand of groundbreaking programs that would suit their tastes. For me, I can say that I never doubted the efforts of the network and it will continue to do so. And soon, the number three television station in the Philippines would become one of the best channels in the country when digital television arrives.
